Summary

This semester, Charlene Hickey and I will be working with Larry Simmons from Tallahassee Housing Authority to develop a digital literacy curriculum to be used in THA’s community centers.  This curriculum will help equip THA’s residents with computer skills that will make them more self-sufficient while improving their skill set for jobs.  Once the curriculum has been developed, we will begin teaching it to THA’s residents throughout the summer.  We will present the curriculum, updated based on our experience in teaching it, to the sponsors at the end of the summer.

Lutheran Social Services of North Florida equips THA’s community centers with computer labs to be used for the aforementioned digital literacy workshops.  It is likely that we will have to communicate with LSS regarding software and computer lab maintenance.

Charlene and I have exchanged mobile phone numbers and update each other regularly via text message in addition to in-class conversations each week.  We primarily use email to communicate with our sponsors, including emailing notes after face-to-face meetings.  We schedule meetings using Doodle as there are several people involved, all with varying schedules.

For more details on our project and our communication plan, see our draft Project Plan.  This plan is a work in progress and is subject to change.
